The conference location is serviced by Key West, Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports. It is highly suggested to plan air travel into Miami or Fort Lauderdale International Airports because ground transport from Key West International Airport to Hawk's Cay has been impossible to find except for local taxi service that costs approximately $130.00 for one way transport between Key West International Airport and Hawk's Cay. If you or your group need to have air travel into Key West International Airport and you will not be renting vehicles, please contact Steve Marshall (the conference contact) to assist you with ground transport to Hawk's Cay Resort.

A multitude of vehicle rental companies are available from the airports and vehicle rentals are available at the resort.

Keys Shuttle provides service to and from Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports (If at all possible fly into one of these airports).
They can be contacted for a reservation at 888-765-9997 or their website www.floridakeysshuttle.com.

Rates are one way Miami International Airport to Hawk's Cay $50.00 and $90.00 for roundtrip.

Rates are one way Fort Lauderdale International Airport to Hawk's Cay $60.00 and $108.00 for roundtrip.

Keys Shuttle makes 6 daily pickups at 2 hour intervals either from the Resort or the Airports. You can see their schedule on their website.

If you want to get ambitious, you can organize a group and get a discount for two or more using the shuttle service together.

Special room rates for the Conference at Hawk's Cay Resort are as follows:

• Guestrooms are $109.00 per night
• Two Bedroom Villas are $225.00 per night
• Guestrooms and Villas are blocked for the AREA Conference the nights of September 18 through September 21, 2004
• The conference guestroom and villa rates are valid two days pre and two days post conference (subject to availability)*See Below
• There is a daily resort fee of $10.00 per guestroom and $20.00 per villa that applies to all accommodations
• Room rates are tax exempt with proper documentation
• Check in time is after 4:00PM. Check out time is prior to 11:00AM
• Individuals hold reservations by payment of one nights room rate by August 18, 2004
• Conference rates and block of rooms are held by the resort through August 18, 2004
• When contacting the Hawk's Cay Resort to make a reservations, inform them that you will be attending the Aquatic Resources Education Association Meeting. This will secure the special conference rates.

* As of 24 June 2004, the Resort has informed us that guestrooms are no longer available at the discounted rate for September 22 and 23. The Resort has made available the 2 bedroom / 2 bath Conch Villas at a price of $218.00 that can be shared. If you plan to stay September 22, 23 or both nights, plan to move from your guest room into a 2 bedroom / 2bath Conch Villa for a minimum of a two-night stay. You will need to have a roommate in mind that you can share the cost with for the same two nights. Notify Hawk’s Cay Resort reservations of your plans when you book your stay for the conference. We are sorry for this inconvenience, but the guestrooms at the Resort seem to be filling up unexpectedly. Thank you for your continued flexibility.

• Daily - $150.00
• Guest (Pigeon Key & Banquet dinners) - $120.00
• Registration fee after 23 July 2004 add - $125.00
• Early Registration Deadline is July 23, 2004; after that date, Late Registration fees apply.
• The registration fee includes:  Saturday evening reception, 4 lunches, 2 dinners and an educational field experience to Pigeon Key.
