The historic island of Pigeon Key is the site for our Sunday afternoon activities. Upon arriving on the island we will have an opportunity to learn about its historical significance in changing the Florida Keys from a series of isolated islands with little human inhabitance to a connected ribbon that makes up the crowded paradise of today. Pigeon key is also home to one of the most unique educational experiences found within the Florida Keys, where the hard bottom and sea grass habitats provide near-shore viewing and capture the imagination. While snorkeling around the island you will come face-to-face with large vase sponges, a forest of soft coral, and numerous tropical invertebrates and fish, where rarely seen critters might also show-up for viewing. |
